Kate Fraser

Kate Fraser is Joby Aviation’s Head of Safety. Before joining Joby, she was Uber’s Head of Aviation Policy, working with regulators and policymakers worldwide to make urban air mobility a reality. Additionally, she spent three years with the FAA’s Office of Accident Investigation and Prevention, collaborating with industry partners to reduce the fatal accident rate. There, she represented the US and the Commercial Aviation Safety Team (CAST) in Europe and South America, and was program manager of the General Aviation Joint Steering Committee (GAJSC) which succeeded in reducing the general aviation accident rate by more than 10% in 10 years. Ms. Fraser also served a six-month detail to the Office of Government and Industry Affairs, engaging with legislators in support of the FAA. Earlier, she worked for the General Aviation Manufacturers Association (GAMA) as Director of Safety. A commercial pilot and certified flight instructor, Ms. Fraser holds a BS in Aeronautical Technology from Kansas State University where she was honored as an Alumni Fellow in 2016, and a Masters in Human Factors in Aerospace from Embry-Riddle. She resides in Santa Cruz with her husband and cat.
